ABOUT PAPA
Join hulu (feather) master, Kawika Lum-Nelmida, for a hands-on Lei Hulu Making Class where you'll learn the ancient Hawaiian art of crafting lei hulu kāmoe (feathered lei)! In this fun and creative class, you'll be guided through the entire process, from selecting and preparing vibrant pheasant feathers to assembling them to create your own lei hulu. Lum-Nelmida will share tips, techniques, and cultural insights that will deepen your knowledge for this unique art form.
Lei kāmoe is made using a flat featherwork technique where the feathers are laid down smoothly in overlapping rows so they “lie flat” — which is exactly what kāmoe means in Hawaiian (“to lie flat”).
PLEASE BE SURE TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT SESSION BEFORE COMPLETING CHECK OUT!
